Mr. Walter S. Barr

Mr. Walter Saforest Barr was born on July 6, 1968, to the late Walter Barr and Sarah Barr. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Isiah Stewart, Sr., Lille Stewart, Jonnie Barr and Mamie Barr. Walter held a special place in the hearts of his relatives. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication will live on through the many lives he touched. A native of Jackson, GA, Walter received his early education in the local school system and graduated from Jackson High School in 1986. He was awarded a full football scholarship at The Fort Valley State University to further education and personal growth. Affectionately known as "Big Walt”, “16”, “Booty Ball” and "Boot" by those closest to him, he was a devoted father to his two daughters, Zhnarya Barr and Chloe Carter. He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to four beloved grandchildren: Aria, Aida, Amir, and Aspen. Walter was a dedicated member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he faithfully served on the Usher’s Board. A gifted musician, he found joy in playing the guitar for various gospel groups, using his talents to uplift and inspire others. His passion for sports was evident during his high school years, where he excelled as a well-rounded athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. Known for his warm personality, infectious laughter, and generous heart, Walter cherished time spent with his family and friends. He was a man of compassion, always ready to offer kindness, encouragement, and support to those around him. Walter’s memory will be forever treasured by his loving siblings, Tony and Iris. He will also be deeply missed by his uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of friends, and his devoted companion, Rosa Ector. Walter will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering love, joyful spirit, and the lasting impact he made on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Celebration of Life for Mr. Walter S. Barr will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 709 S. Mulberry Street, Jackson, Georgia. His visitation will be from 1:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Saturday, March 1, 2025. His final resting place will be in the Jackson City Cemetery, 485 West College Drive, Jackson, GA 30233.
