ALICIA YOLANDA FORD NELSON Alicia was born on January 16,1936 to Muriel Clarke and Pearle Ford in Colon, Republic of Panama. Alicia, Lecy as we called her, grew up with her mother and step-father, Michael Barnett. Lecy attended the Rainbow City High School and graduated in 1955. She attended the Ebenezer Methodist Church in the former Rainbow City, Canal Zone. Lecy was a member of the Plus Ultra Club and the Damas de la Caridad Club. She was previously married to Byron Nelson and from this union was born Danilo Nelson and Dalys Nelson. Lecy attended the Trinity Methodist Church in her former years, where she was an usher, member of the Women’s League, Women’s Commission and Circuit Steward. She was always willing to help whenever there was a need at the church. She also was an ardent worker in whatever the church had to do at the Hogar Atlantico Senior Home. She will be dearly missed by her church sisters and others at the church. Lecy was predeceased by her mother, Muriel Barnett, step-father, Mike Barnett and son, Danilo Nelson. Living in Grayson, Georgia for the last five years, Alicia departed this life on Monday, March 15, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Left to mourn are: her daughter, Dalys Nelson Hurdle (spouse Earnest); granddaughter, Venishka Hurdle Scott (spouse Troy); grandson, Danilo Nelson Jr. (spouse Natannia); grandson, Jahmaal Hurdle and daughter-in-law Debra Nelson. Her great-grands are: Anaya Nelson, Amina Nelson and Anais Scott. She is also survived by Louise (Eleanor) Ford Hogan, (sister) Winston Ford, (brother), a host of cousins and friends. Special mention to Evet Clachar, Dalys' comadre, who has been like a daughter to Lecy. May her soul rest in peace. Graveside Service for Ms. Alicia Nelson will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 22, 2021 at Gwinnett Memorial Park, Lawrenceville, GA. Her visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. Sunday, March 21, 2021. These services will be recorded and streamed live.
